Amazon Credit Cardholders - Super Prime!
Amazon Prime has become the standard for customer affinity programs. It motivates members to shop at Amazon first for just about everything, and that huge segment of Amazon shoppers plays a major role in driving Amazon’s retail success. Prime members shop more frequently and spend more annually than other non-Prime Amazon customers.
Before other affinity programs, providing consumer credit was a common way to build a loyal retail customer base. Retailers were their own credit providers, with accounts tracked in the store. When physical credit cards were introduced, they were still exclusive to a single store. Ultimately, store-branded Visa, MasterCard, and even American Express credit cards were introduced, providing store rewards for broader shopping, while still maintaining the link to the card issuing retailer.
Amazon has followed the lead of airlines, hotels, and traditional retailers, to offer Amazon credit cards. Amazon offers an Amazon-only credit card and an Amazon Visa card. Both promise a 5% reward for Amazon purchases, and the Visa card earns Amazon rewards for non-Amazon purchases, too.
