Amazon Streaming Video - Prime and More

Amazon originally sold DVDs and then downloadable movies as a natural extension of its retail book business. When streaming video became viable for the mainstream, Amazon Prime Video was created as an additional benefit for Amazon Prime members. At the time, Netflix had a virtual monopoly on paid streaming video. Needless to say, the competition has grown, but Amazon still has a prominent position in the market.
