Amazon challenges conventional retailers like Walmart and Target in so many ways - vast selection, competitive prices, reliable shipping, and more. The bigger problem for the traditional retailers is the “Amazon First” habit instilled in shoppers. 

Amazon shoppers don’t think of anyone beside Amazon when they look to buy.

For the almost ten years CIRP has tracked recent Amazon purchasers, a significant proportion of customers began shopping at…Amazon.com. In the most recent 12-month period, almost 90% of customers that bought something at Amazon started and finished their shopping at Amazon.com (Chart 1).
