While Amazon aimed to become “The Everything Store”, as Jeff Bezon famously said, customers rely on Amazon for certain categories, and of course, Amazon started in 1995 as an online bookstore. Electronics then became the dominant department. Now, groceries is the most popular department, with apparel and household goods recently surpassing electronics.
