Walmart.com Surpasses Amazon - By At Least One Measure
Share

We are very interested in comparing Amazon to Walmart.com. Last week we looked at how the Walmart+ membership program compares to Amazon Prime. As we continue to look at this competition, we find in one important respect, the Walmart.com e-commerce business is stronger than Amazon.com.

We analyze average annual spending at Walmart.com compared to Amazon.com in the US. We have long tracked annual spending at Amazon. The average spending per customer has been around $1,000 per year for several years (Chart 1). Interestingly, average annual spending at Walmart.com is higher.
