Beyond monthly vs. annual pay Prime membership, Amazon offers a couple of other options. Amazon Prime Student is a half-price offering for 18-24 year-olds who are enrolled in school. Prime Access is a greatly reduced price alternative for government assistance recipients. In the past, there was an Amazon Prime Mom program, and until recently, an Amazon Prime Video Only plan. (We think Amazon quietly eliminated that little used subscription, perhaps in preparation for charging for ad-free Prime Video.)

So Amazon Prime is currently a three-flavor ice cream parlor, and virtually everyone chooses vanilla. 93% of Amazon Prime members report having a standard monthly or annual pay subscription. (Chart 1).
