Like Amazon Prime members, Amazon credit cardholders and Amazon Subscribe & Save (S&S) customers just spend more at Amazon. It probably should not be a surprise that there is a sizable overlap between customers with one of the Amazon credit cards and customers with S&S orders.

We think using an Amazon credit card - a Visa or Store Card - is the ultimate sign of Amazon affinity. And, having an active S&S order is the ultimate sign of commitment to Amazon shopping. This makes Amazon the rare retailer that can have meaningful levels of connection beyond a paid membership, like Prime.

So, customers with an Amazon credit card are more than twice as likely to have an active S&S order than non-cardholders (Chart 1). Customers with an Amazon “Store Card” (for shopping only at Amazon, Whole Foods, Amazon Fresh, and stores that accept Amazon Pay) are a little more likely to have an active S&S order than those with the Amazon Visa credit card.
